Yes, it's been almost a year since QuickFill was removed (which disappointed a number of users), and why still talk about this tool?

Honestly I didn't have the time to discover QuickFill, however I went to dig into what this feature was offering and it turns out that the tool still has a big advantage over the default password manager (implemented in Chromium/Chrome).

And this advantage is simply...security! Indeed, while looking at Slimjet's FAQ (https://www.slimjet.com/en/faq.php ), I discovered that the data stored in QuickFill was encrypted in AES256, which is strong for a password manager, while Chrome's password manager uses an encryption module native to Windows...which can be decrypted with an external program!

By the way, a video (in French) has already evoked this security problem with the default password managers of Chrome and Firefox: https://youtu.be/3VTPmkg3WFY

And to know if Slimjet users want QuickFill back, I put a poll here: https://strawpoll.vote/polls/uuj1whgm/vote?s=0

If the results are positive, I might write to the developer to bring back QuickFill!

Perhaps Flashpeak would be willing to maintain it as an Extension? I don't think he is willing to put the time involved into maintaining it as an actual imbedded feature.

I don't know if the developer kept the source code of QuickFill, but if he did, it would be enough (probably) to put the source code in Slimjet and make some arrangements (if there are any) to reimplement the function, it wouldn't take much time.

Also the chrome extensions (as we know them, e.g. uBlock Origin, the RoboForm extension...) are made mainly in JavaScript while the Slimjet functions (so probably QuickFill) are closer to a C++/JS mix, so it would take more time to convert it to a chrome extension than to (re)implement it as a Slimjet feature.

Update: I tested QuickFill with an old version of Slimjet (Slimjet 25) and it's really not bad, very complete and quite powerful, however it lacks the option to export/import in CSV to be able to import it in another password manager for example

So it's clear, if QuickFill comes back, it must come back with a CSV import/export option!
