Extension icons missing from menu

The button at the right end of the navigation toolbar opens a menu that used to have the extra buttons for extensions that I did not need to be instantly available all the time. Those buttons are now missing from that menu. How do I get them back? I cannot access an extension without a toolbar button.

Less to do with a decision by Slimjet and more a question of going along with Chrome in the absence of a strong reason not to.

Previous example of a strong reason not to: Chrome removed the warning for closing multiple tabs and Slimjet kept it as an option.

Sorry to say- that doesn't always work. Mine is set to ON but i've still got the no-icon blues....
