Great concept for a Chromium fork

Hello!
This is my first post here I just registered to say that for me Slimjet is the best fork of Chromium I have ever seen!
I have tried and used pure Chromium, CoolNovo, Comodo, Maxthon, SRware Iron and Avant browser. Non of them I liked.
I am an old Opera-Presto user. I still use as primary browser Opera 12.15 and I will never use Chrome or new (fake)Opera with Blink because I don't like their concept and undisguised lust for money - they don't want advanced users.
As Opera 12 get older and older and Chrome monoculture is a sad fact I was looking for something as close to the old Opera concept as it is possible.
Then I discovered Slimjet. This is the lightest on resources, the most customizable, privacy - security concious and featured Chromium fork I have ever seen. Now Slimjet is my second browser of choice that I use more and more and I hope it will be the first when Opera 12 die completely.
It will be great if you improve a little bit Speed dial (drag and drop) and Bookmarks manager - I like Opera bookmark feature - open all folder items. But most important for me is that I like your concept of development of Slimjet.

I came along a similar path. I was with Opera since 3.62, and my stepping off point was 12.17. I intended to use that version for a longer time, but the more I used SJ the more it made sense to make the switch. I don't miss the bugs and lack of site compatibility of Presto, but Opera's attitude toward innovation and user customization was legendary.

You should be able to open all bookmarks in a folder, if I understand you correctly. The closest I've found to Opera's Speed Dial is https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... mamcldindl, which is commendable for its simplicity, effectiveness and pleasing aesthetics. You can drag/drop page icons by first opening its New Tile dialog, and then hitting the spacebar (edit: make that the Right Arrow key) after the paste to awaken the "Go" button.

Presto was fun, while it lasted. Too bad it is over. SlimJet is a logical alternative to the new Opera too, IMO. (I have kept OperaEmailPortable though, as an email client so nice doesn't need the updates that a browser requires.) FWIW.

I agree. These guys have a great track record of browser improvements. Now with Blink and access to chromium extensions, the sky's the limit.

I also use the separate Opera mail prog, but mainly now for RSS feeds.

Yes the old Opera was good while it lasted! Anyway, I found some other Chromium based browsers that might interest some of you guys. They are WhiteHat Aviator, Citrio, Torch Browser, U Browser, Yendex Browser and some others.

Aviator looks like a good concept. Browser security and privacy is far too complicated for most people, who just want to fire the prog up and surf. I like the idea of a secure package off the shelf.

For a browser that purports to respect our choices, Aviator installs itself as the system default without notice. Immediate uninstall.

The most secure is https://epicbrowser.com/, they only allow a few trusted extensions to be installed to help with security. Their forum is pretty good too.
