Download failed Insufficient permissions [Solved]

Post by JosephWebber »

I have just updated Slimjet and now every download comes up with the above message.
The same happens with Firefox, but Opera downloads the files with no problem.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Solved! I usually run sandboxed, so I tried a download using Slimjet unsandboxed and it worked. I tried other browsers unsandboxed and they worked. So I went to the Sandboxie site forum and there it stated that the latest version had screwed permissions for downloads and that there was a fix. I upgraded and everything was back to normal. So I had been going up blind alleys all the time. Many thanks for your help.

Have you tried using a different folder to save the download to?

Yes, same result.
In any case, the original location worked before.

Try this. Download the full offline installer, right click on the installation file and run as admin.

Permission issues will be a local computer operating system issue as opposed to an issue with an installed program. Something on your system has changed.

The last time I experienced an issue with permissions was after I downgraded a user account from admin to normal user. It was a nightmare after that. I ended up putting some things on a second hard drive to work around it.

I also wondered if it was a system problem and I will do some research on that assumption, but against that is the fact that Opera still has no problem.
