Ah whatever...as much as I like Slimjet, it is going to leave my system for a while. I think that I am going to give Chromium a try. 64bit. Time to experiment a bit I think. I will miss the bookmarks side bar, but there are some other decent bookmarks add ons that may work for me.
Oh, what brought this one ? For about the hundredth time, Slimjet crashed again on me just now by me merely clicking on a link in the bookmarks bar. Sad.
SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
Slimjet is uninstalled for now. Sadly, there are too many bugs for me to try to deal with and overcome. It always seems to have the "feel" of a beta. Can't have that when a browser or a program is a released version. The latest Chrome 64bit release is in my system now. Still setting some stuff up now in it, but after running for a few hours now, it has been ultra stable. No crashes or issues with accessing any website.
Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
You know what for me it was working flawless until that 12.0.1 version ( I don't remember but i think I use it since 6.x or 7.x ). All was and is stable just this problem with very slow response time and slow creating/closing tabs and closing whole browser - something is broken. I was trying new instance without any data/cache and it's similar slow.RBTB2605 wrote:Slimjet is uninstalled for now. Sadly, there are too many bugs for me to try to deal with and overcome. Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
I have had the bookmark crashing the browser issue for some time now. Even before 12 came out. I love the speed of Chromium browsers. Firefox has nothing that compares. I am of the opinion that maybe the developers of Slimjet are trying to do too much and in turn, the code is being altered to the point where we end up with these nit-picky problems. The latest 64bit Chrome release is running flawlessly for me. I also use the latest Opera release and I like that also. Hopefully Mr. Cheng and his team get Slimjet working better soon as then I will try it again.
Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
I made some tests to show how it works.
Both Slimjet 12.0.0 and 12.0.6 are 64bit portable versions without any addons.
It's recorded in 60 FPS so You can see easly how bad it works in later versions ( compared 12.0.0 and 12.0.6 ).
Here are sample MP4 files ( Opening/closing tabs and starting browser ): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/yfhajtwqwaqc ... 318Qa?dl=0
Also here are measured starting times for both using PassMark AppTimer:

SlimJet 12.0.0 - 3 executions:
0.0410 s
0.0208 s
0.0215 s
As You can see it's around 16 times slower. Please FIX this issue it's really annoying.SlimJet 12.0.6 - 3 executions:
0.3314 s
0.3260 s
0.3360 s
Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
I only use Slimjet as a backup now. Running the full blown Chrome 64 bit browser now. Got to be too frustrating to use Slimjet as my default browser due to ongoing issues as described in this thread and other problems.
Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
Okay... I've found issue. It's because of Microsoft EMET security tool. EAF mitigation must be disabled.
Anyway tell me why it was working perfect with every version until 12.0.1 ?

Re: SJ 12.0.1 Lags and delays
Funny that I haven't got any stability problems with SJ. Now it's working ok.RBTB2605 wrote:I have had the bookmark crashing the browser issue for some time now. Even before 12 came out. It has nothing to do with the coding Flashpeak does to individualize Slimjet from the base chromium engine. This is not a problem that Flashpeak can resolve, it must be dealt with by the Chromium project people working with the EAF people.impactpl wrote:Anyway tell me why it was working perfect with every version until 12.0.1 ?
The link below leads to an explanation from the chromium people.

I've read this article but weird thing is that with EAF+ mode SlimJet is working properly, problems show up when You enable EAF mode.
