There's an issue with Slimjet's use of pepperflash as of yesterday. My slimjet was using pepper flash 22.0.0.209 and everything was fine. But then on 9/30/2016 all my flash videos stopped working. Rebooting, clearing cache, clearing settings, etc. etc. did not fix the issue. Youtube, flash testing sites, etc. any sort of flash stopped working with the error message "Couldnt' load plugin." I reinstalled slimjet clean and flashworked fine for about 10 minutes, and then the same thing happened.
I traced the problem to pepperflash upgrading itself from version 22.0.0.209 to 23.0.0.166 (c:\documents and settings\userid\local settings\application data\slimjet\user data\pepperflash\) As soon as I deleted the 23.0.0.166 directory from the pepperflash\ directory flash began to work in slimjet, but only temporarily. Within 10 minutes flash had re-upgraded itself and the issue reoccured. SlimJet on Windows XP is unable to properly load PepperFlash 23.0.0.166 and it's causing all flash support to stop working.
How do I disable PepperFlash from auto upgrading itself? I can delete the 23.0.0.166\ directory, forcing SlimJet to use the older, and working, version of 22.0.0.209 but I can't stop the upgrade from happening which then ups and breaks flash support.
PepperFlash 23.0.0.166 won't work "Couldn't load plugin"
Re: PepperFlash 23.0.0.166 won't work "Couldn't load plugin"
I replaced pepper flash 23.0.0.166 with 22.0.0.209 in folder 23.0.0.166glitchsys wrote:There's an issue with Slimjet's use of pepperflash as of yesterday. Keep new folder name 23.0.0.166 , but change dll to old only, it's a key, I think
Old version of peeper flash (32bits):

It works half day for me, cheers
Re: PepperFlash 23.0.0.166 won't work "Couldn't load plugin"
Awesome solution/idea. I just installed the flash from Adobe's site that's compatible with Chrome. It seemingly works, it's version 23.0.0.162 or something like that, but it's in a adobe/shockwaveflash folder instead of within Chrome. I was curious how it'd handle my... unique... flash video demands but after a day or two of high cpu usage it doesn't look like it'll hold up as well as pepperflash did. I'll try out your solution now and hope that works.
It's really silly we can't stop pepperflash from auto upgrading itself. We can tell Slimjet not to check for updates, but we can't do the same with the plugins that it uses.
