Whenever a new web page loads, my CPU spikes at about 90%.
In Chrome's own Task Manager, it's the "Browser" entry that uses the cpu, which for some reason only goes up to 30% even tho the overall CPU usage of my system is much higher as stated above.
It doesn't happen immediately when the web page loads.
First, the page loads, then after about 1 second, in Windows task manager the CPU goes almost all the way to 100%. At this stage the web page is frozen and I have to wait 3-5 seconds to be able to use it.
I have tried disabling extensions to no avail.
What can be done about this?
I'm using Win7 x64 and browser is Chromium 47.0.2526.73 but this has gone on for several months now.
Fun fact: I used Maxthon browser several years ago, and when it started becoming slow and trying all sorts of solutions i switched to Firefox. Firefox worked well for a few years and then this browser, too, started giving me the finger on a daily basis. That's why I switched to Chromium a few years ago... which is now behaving very similarly to my previous browsers....

Re: CPU spiking at web page loads
I think the issue is with Blink 47 and not Slimjet itself. You might try an upgrade to Slimjet 10.0.5.0 which is on Blink 50 and for me it is loading really fast. I have not paid attention to the CPU but there have been no complaints to this point in the forum.
If you need the earlier version to resolve another issue perhaps run the earlier version from a Portable installation and run the current version and updates as they come from a normal install.

Mostly my replies are about Windows OS. If not I try to remember to specify Linux.

Yeah I don't think it's specific to Slimjet either, but figured I might as well post here since I am in fact using Slimjet. I've posted on other forums as welloftentired wrote:I think the issue is with Blink 47 and not Slimjet itself. I will update to Slimjet 10 and see where that takes me.

Also, I should have posted. Running Speedyfox periodically will normally result in a faster startup. The problem could be something as simple as waiting for the hard drive reading the user profile.

Wow, never heard of that app, thanks for the tip!oftentired wrote:Also, I should have posted. Running Speedyfox periodically will normally result in a faster startup. The problem could be something as simple as waiting for the hard drive reading the user profile.
I will try it out if I can't fix Chrome on my own.
