Old-old bug with Hardware acceleration

Post by FurLonerD »

It's old obvious bug (6-8 month as minimum), but still not fixed.

Windows 10 x64 SL Eng.
Core i7-4900MQ, GeForce GTX 780M
SlimJet x86 8.0.2.0 (and previous versions).
Browser uses hardware acceleration (default option).
SlimJet - Settings - Get Themes.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/cate ... emes?hl=en
And now on ALL pages we see black window backgrownd
Image
(and very blurry fonts).
Also it happens on http://store.steampowered.com/ site (not on main page but after some navigation)

When I uncheck hardware acceleration option - browser works without problems.

Such problem in 7 star browser (and didn't fixed for a long time too).
But for example - Cent Browser doesn't have this bug (and never has).

As I see - this critical bug was fixed in Slimjet 9.x, but no mention in history about this long-expected fix.

Possibly this was a Blink engine coding issue rather than a Slimjet code issue. In which case it would not be part of the Slimjet history of fixes, it would have been a fix applied by the Blink engine developers in their engine update.

Maybe. But during last year I used different versions Cent browser based on the same Chromium engine on the same system, and it had no problems with hardware acceleration.

based on the same code but coded different to a extent such as cent browser does not support NPAPI it is completely disabled and it does not support xp/vista which slimjet does with extra coding :)

Enable Hardware acceleration in Slimjet options (enabled by default)

I'm thinking that this issue is highly dependent upon the graphic driver(s) and chipset (or CPU for the i7) and will only arise on a very small number of PC's or laptops. It will also be very difficult to reproduce by anyone attempting to diagnose the root cause for corrective action. It will probably end up being resolved after one or two graphic driver updates on the affected systems before being resolved by the Blink or Slimjet people. I would check to see if there has been a graphic driver update released for Win 10 systems.

In the meantime, I suggest trying out a Font Rendering Extension that may help with the websites that show font rendering problems related to this issue.
