Hoodoggy, I just made it in! The forum requires users to register only from Slimjet (!). A challenge, considering it is unusable right now. I had to run an old version (45.0.2.0) to register here. And it lasted just long enough to validate my email. Then it crashed, too. It was a completely fresh portable version.

I had no problem like this until yesterday, Friday, 10/25. Now it's the same as everyone else reports. My current version is 45.0.5.0. I agree it sounds time-related, considering all the versions affected at the same time.

Just thought I'd throw my 2-cents in. Two Windows 11 laptops: mine running the latest version; wife's the version just prior. My laptop only uses Slimjet as a backup, not default browser, not syncing with Google, etc. Wife's laptop uses it as default browser, syncing Google account, etc. Hers was the first to crash. It was very strange, and she was not happy. I updated it, but of course no joy. Back to Chrome she goes, and hopefully it will start behaving, as its performance, esp. with Youtube and other sites she frequents, was awful (thus I installed Slimjet for her). Oddly, Chrome on my laptop going to her sites was fine. C'est la vie, eh?

Decided I'd test Slimjet on my laptop; crashed many times until I stopped clicking bookmarks and just googled "Slimjet browser x64 crashes". Remarkably, it didn't crash, and this thread was pretty much the first hit in the search. So I read the thread with my crashing install of Slimjet. Made it all the way to page 6, going back and forth a few times. Zero crashes. Tried to register in Chrome, but as we know, ist verboten! So, I installed 42.0.3.0, told it to do whatever to my "profile" which I don't really use, and managed to register here. Then I upgraded back to the latest version. I loaded this thread, even bookmarked it, in Slimjet, then tried to login. You can guess what happened.

So here I am in Chrome telling my tale. At least they let me use it for this task. I submitted a crash report from both laptops, though I'm sure they have plenty of those by now. I reckon they'll fix it sooner rather than later, but I know that's not much consolation to sweethoneybee and other dedicated Slimjet users. Fingers crossed it's not something malicious, though the working-suddenly-not-working thing does not bode well.

I have no more crashes with version 40.0.6.0 too. Strange thing is that the release notes say the reason was an update for Windows 11 (fix crash after windows 11 update) and i´m using Windows 10 from 2021 without any updates. :?

I found it strange, too, because even though I am using Windows 11, I have not updated since the 8th and the browser was working fine all that time. Today everyone got bugged out at the same time, it must have been some other outside issue to have hit all of us at the same time regardless of the OS version we use.

Yes, Yes, Yes. And it even gets more strange because also people who are using Linux reported that crashing problem and Slimjet for Linux didn´t get updatet. It´s still version 44.0.5.0. :?
And now it gets really exciting. Slimjet for Linux also has changed yesterday evening but the version number 44.0.5.0 was still retained. I downloaded this version a few days ago and could see this morning that the hash had changed. :?

I can confirm that version 42.0.1.0 is working. I downloaded the 64-bit installer (sjtsetup_x64.exe) from here:
Thanks, and so do 42.0.3.0. (Was able to register here with this version :) )

A process of deduction tells us that it wasn't a slimjet update (older versions suddenly broke too), and it wasn't an OS update (or even OS specific). So it had to be something that was happening server-side.

My feeling is that there was probably an update to Google Web Tools (or some other widely-used website script) which uncovered a previously unknown bug in Slimjet.

That's just a hunch though, I'm no expert.
