Random Send crash report

Post by oftentired »

Anyone getting a random Send crash report popup immediately or soon after starting the browser after a normal browser shutdown? Roughly 1/3 of the browser startups.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz
Installed RAM 12.0 GB (11.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 11 Home, Version 22H2

Yes, I've been getting crash report messages randomly for some time, it seems to have calmed down lately (because in previous versions it was really severe).
But it's still annoying for the UX, and why crash report messages appear randomly escapes me completely.
In any case, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed.

The developer suggest I look in the C:\Users\[USER NAME]\AppData\Local\Slimjet\User Data\Crash Reports folder for a file called "submit_dump.flag" and delete it.

I didn't find the file.

No convincing results from my side either.

That does not happen with the Mac version. On the other hand, the Mac version will no longer update its extensions.

As of 8/25/2024:
Still having this problem in Version 43.0.9.0 (based on Chromium 122.0.6261.39) (Official Build) (32-bit).
This can happen 100% of the time, at times.
Workaround: Close all tabs one at at time. Terrible choice if I have dozens of tabs open.
I never found: "submit_dump.flag"
I also tried --disable-features=CrashReporting Nope, didn't work.
I have had to switch to CentBrowser or Thorium.
Using latest build, currently Running 32 bit SlimJet 43.0.9.0 on Win 10 Home on Intel i3 with 8 gb RAM.

Same here as of yesterday, 17th September.

I experience already for a long time that Slimjet regularly crashes every second or third video you try to download with Stream Recorder extension. Then on restart you get the session restore and crash report windows. Okay, it's a nuisance, but I have accepted that as "regular Slimjet behaviour".
But the day before yesterday I didn't use this extension and had no crashes at all. I shut down my PC the regular way, went to bed, and today on browser start crash report (without session restore offer, all pinned tabs were there right on start). Every time I restart the browser this happens now.
