Issues using FVD SpeedDial

I'm using Slimjet on Xubuntu 14.04 LTS. When I add the FVD SpeedDial extension and I go through the initials setup process, a pop-up comes up asking me if I want to apply the current theme to FVD. If I choose to apply the theme the pop-up switches to 'Background Downloading' and it freezes there. Also, the speed dials in this extension are black as well with no images.
