What's wrong with Version 43.0.3.0 (basé sur Chromium 122.0.6261.39) (Build officiel) (64 bits) on Fedora 40?

I reluctantly upgraded from version 42.0.3.0 because it was giving me constantly an extension error with Ghostery, which was nevertheless working perfectly BTW.

I deleted the cache, cookies, the whole nine yards like I always do.

Then, I unzipped the new slimjet archive content over the current installation. Maybe should I have deleted it in the first place? I did not because I thought they may were configuration files in that. Are there any?

I've been using Slimjet on several computers and Oses for over a decade and it's the first time I see something like that.

Every page I visit, each and every one of them loads, than go blank and I'm required to press reload (Ctrl-F5) 3 times at least to display the content!


So far I tested the following versions on Fedora:
Downloads/slimjet_amd64-37-0-4-0.tar.xz
Downloads/slimjet_amd64-39-0-5-0.tar.xz
Downloads/slimjet_amd64-41-0-1-0.tar.xz
Downloads/slimjet_amd64-42-0-3-0.tar.xz <- last version until 2 days ago
Downloads/slimjet_amd64-43-0-3-0.tar.xz <- current installation

When nothing is broken, my leitmotiv is to keep the version that actually works. I upgrade only if I have no other option.

Any idea or hint?

Well, well, well. Ghostery issued an update today that also triggers the extension error message in slimjet 43-0-3-0. That particular release is now totally unusable even all extensions disabled. Up to 10 reloads per page, when it works I mean!

Back to 42-0-3-0 where this new version of Ghostery works perfectly fine and no more error message. With all the hassle I had to relogin to every website imaginable because they don't recognize my browser anymore.

I hate upgrading slimjet and downgrading is even worse.

Devs, please help with this issue ?

I'm also facing same issue. Screen goes black. It seems some rendering issue.
