Google Search results won't open in same tab

Google Search results won't open in the same tab.
I can only open links using ctrl-clicking the link.
This behaviour is only on Google.com and in Slimjet not in Chrome or Edge.

Found solution and it seems a bug te me:
When I go to chrome://settings/privacy and uncheck the setting "Replace indirect link in search engine results with direct link to original site", the problem is solved

Good catch on the culprit. As a work-a-round, assuming you want a direct link to be used. A right click open in new tab will work.

I wasn't able to produce the same issue there. Can you share a link to the google search results page?

Any google search results for me always result in my not being able to left click and open a link when I have the "Replace indirect link in search engine results with direct link to original site" toggled on in the settings.
I just tested it again with this search
https://www.google.com/search?q=All+goo ... e&ie=UTF-8
After I opened settings and toggled it off I was able to left click and open a page from the same search result
