Open H264 the solution to MP4 video decoding problems on Linux?

Hello,
While searching on the internet to solve the video decoding problem on Linux I looked for information on H264, and I saw that Cisco proposed an alternative to H264 called OpenH264 : http://www.openh264.org/
So, could this solve the video decoding problems on Linux, I don't know, it depends mostly on the license and the use case Slimjet fits in,so is FlashPeak eligible to include OpenH264 in the Slimjet browser? that is the question !
