EMAIL LINKS OPEN GOOGLE MAIN PAGE - NOT GMAIL

Clicking an email link used to open a new Slimjet Gmail window, ready to compose an email, with the to: field already populated by the original email link. This stopped happening a few days ago.
Now a new Chrome (not Slimjet) window opens on the google main page.
How can I fix this to work properly again?
