Tab List button no longer always on right end of tab bar

Since the new version (at least), the tab list button is not always on the right end of the tab bar, just after the new tab button.
Sometimes it is in the middle of the bar, somewhere.
Sometimes it is at the left end of the bar, only partly visible.
Sometimes it is hiding under the left-most tab. Then, if I move the leftmost tab away, it snaps back to the right end (as if it were embarrassed to be found out of position!).
Sometimes it is in the correct position.
[Well... at long last I have figured out images: tell Imgur to list the links as "Linked BBCode (Message Boards)" !]
