Problems posting to Disqus

I've noticed over the past couple of weeks that sometimes when I try to post in Disqus, I get
Oops! We're having trouble posting your comment. Check your internet connection and try again.


Sometimes the issue resolves itself after a few minutes, and I can make the post, but sometimes it doesn't. I can go to the same URL and log in with the same credentials, and post the comment in IE, or Firefox, Cocoon or PaleMoon (both Firefox based) or Opera, without problem. It's only Slimjet that seems to have this problem.

Has anyone else seen this issue? I've seen it happen in the past, maybe once every month or so, but since I upgraded to v16.0.8.0 (Windows 7, 64 bit version), it seems to be happening about 75% of the time, now. I'm not sure if this is a Slimjet issue or a Disqus issue (or both), but since it's not a problem with any other browser, I know Disqus will just point the finger at Slimjet.

I've disabled all plugins and still experienced the issue; does anyone have any debugging ideas they want to recommend I try?

I'm thinking Intermittent problems with that message tend to be server side issues or connectivity issues somewhere between you and the server.

I suggest exclusively using another browser for making Disqus posts for a significant period of time to double check that it does not happen in another browser as well.

If you find that this problem is causing you to lose a post you've spent considerable time typing in and editing, you may give consideration to crafting your post in notepad and then using copy paste to the browser for your posting.

And, this is not a Known Issue so I'm moving it to the General forum.

That was my original thought, as well.

However, I can try to post with Slimjet, and get the failure. I then switch to IE or Firefox, and post successfully. Returning to Slimjet, and trying to post another comment, I continue to get error.

Oh, I have. And yes, it's specific to Slimjet. I've used IE and Firefox as well as Firefox derivatives PaleMoon and Cocoon, and Chromium derivative Opera. Slimjet has been the only browser to manifest the problem.

I have seen the occasional failure to post in other browsers, but when that happens, Disqus fails to allow posts from any browser and it's a Disqus issue. When they clear it up, all browsers (except Slimjet) work again.

I'm asking the same question on the Disqus forums, to see if there are any other Slimjet users out there.
