slimjet cannot open webpage

Newly installed slimjet on linux mint 18.2 in a virtualbox 5.2.2. Cannot open any webpage, don't know whether the issue is due to the very first step of setting password. I don't know why it asks that, so I just pressed enter to skip it.
So, what's possible reason that slimjet cannot load webpage?
why slimjet asks for password, and how it is used for?
How would slimjet use the password?

don't know why, but after quick slimjet and then restart it, connection can be established, I will test it out and see how it works.
Still the password issue needs to be further understood, thanks

The QuickFill form filler in Slimjet is designed to replace the default password manager available in Chromium. Compared with the default password manager, QuickFill is more convenient and intelligent. The default password manager saves only the login information including user name and password. QuickFill saves all the data in a given web form. QuickFill also saves the web page url together with the form data so that you can complete the sequence of opening web page, filling login information and submitting the form in a single step automatically.
QuickFill is enabled by default in lieu of the default password manager. However, if you wish to use the default password manager instead, turn off the option "Use QuickFill form filler instead of default password manager" in the section "Password and forms" of the settings page.
When Saving a form or ID/PW with Quickfill you have an option to Encrypt with master password. When this option is selected, the form will be encrypted with the master password. You will need enter the master password in order to access the form. This password is what Slimjet requests from you at first run after installation.

Thanks for the input, I don't know whether quickfill is relevant to the information I saw. What I saw is something like a keyring stuff like mac-book security thing, which always causes me trouble in understanding it and mess me up with log-ins.

In which case it is not Slimjet making the request. As the previous post indicates, it is a operating system request. Just happens to be Slimjet is the Browser put to use that causes the system to react with the request.
Someone else had something similar to this a while back but I couldn't find the post when I searched for it.

Yes, definitely an OS thing. I fixed the same issue with instruction #15 in the first link I posted above.
