Start up switches in Target line in desktop icon

Why is this set of switches necessary to view videos on explore.org? And on cbs.com
Those two are what I have found so far, there may be more
--always-authorize-plugins --force-fieldtrials="NewMenuStyle/Compact2/"
My full target line in the icon properties box:(I am too lazy to change things from chromium to slimjet!)
C:\Slimjet\slimjet.exe --user-data-dir="C:\Chromium-32\User Data\<USER NAME?" --incognito --always-authorize-plugins --force-fieldtrials="NewMenuStyle/Compact2/"
