Norton Detects SONAR.AM.C!24

Post by slimram »

After the last update, Norton detected the following file:
SONAR.AM.C!24

Search on the internet revealed nothing definitive so I went with the Norton recommendation. After Norton removed it, Slimjet was also removed.

Can you tell me if this was due to the update? Also, what should I do should the file appear again following an update?

Regards,
Ramzi

be more specific

your OS?
the actual versions you updated from and to
32 or 64 bit Slimjet?

Mostly my replies are about Windows OS. If not I try to remember to specify Linux.

Windows 10, 32-bit.

My present version is 14.0.15.0 (based on Chromium 57.0.2987.98).

I'm not sure what the last build was but whenever I get a notification that an update is available, I go ahead with it si whatever the last one was, that is what I had installed.

I've run the 32 bit download against the virustotal detection and it found nothing reporting 0/62. Perhaps your system picked this nasty up while browsing shortly before the update and it attached itself to the browser somewhere in your Slimjet profile?

Also to consider, there have been no other posts on the forum about Sonar.

When I clicked in Norton "Remove the threat", it also disabled Slimjet. I reinstalled Slimjet and it's working fine now.
Thank you for the reply. All good now.
