Connectivity Issues

I cannot put my finger on what exactly is going on, but I am typing this from the Opera browser right now rather than Slimjet due to some ongoing issues with Slimjet not connecting to some sites occasionally as I click on them along with the random crashing of the browser completely when I click on a site in the bookmarks bar.

So I could be at one site and all is working well and then when I click on one of my bookmarks the loading activity indicator will be spinning around, but nothing happens. This is not a problem with my internet connection in any way as this never happens in Opera or Waterfox. My connection is fast and steady here with virtually no down time to speak of. 30/5 internet service.

If you have not done so already. If this problem persists I think it wise to report using the "online feedback webpage" (link from the Help menu). This will provide more of your system information to the developers along with the notification of the problem.

Yes, this is true. I have used that before and also, when the bookmark crashing occurs, I 90% of the time fill in the box that presents itself when I restart the browser. I think that somehow the connectivity issue and the bookmark issue is related. I have been using my old standby Opera since last night and for several hours this morning and there has been no hiccups or problems at all. It just hums right along and I rather like it.

From the user perspective the only thing that comes readily to mind is the possibility of a proxy setting issue. If you use (or have experimented with) a proxy setting within Slimjet perhaps it needs to be re-evaluated?

I never mess with any of that stuff. Everything is out of the box settings. :D Today has been a lazy R&R type of day for me and I have been on the internet a lot. Exclusively using Opera today with no such issues that I have been experiencing with Slimjet.

i'm getting it in 12.1 , sometimes i'll have say 4 tabs open click a bookmark and 2 tabs will crash, or the browser will crash or the new opened tabs will just hang up which also happens if i go back a page on a tab. Maybe its a bug in the Chromium 53 release as in the core code , the 12.1 version is far from stable something is just not right hard to say to what apart from random crashes it feels sluggish and the profile switcher icon doesn't disappear even if you untick show it in settings. It'll get sorted in time tho

I appreciate the replies dev. I really want this browser to become more stable. I do believe in it and I thank Mr. Cheng and his team for their efforts.

It could be my imagination, but since I created a new place for the Slimjet cache directory and limited the size of it, the browser has seemed to be a lot more stable tonight.

It also looks like you have not been in the habit of clearing your cache daily with the Menu/More Tools/Clear browsing data option.

I do this daily but un-check Cookies, Passwords and all boxes after Passwords. And select "Since the beginning of time"

This will speed up the SJ Browser...

I run CCleaner daily. Sometimes a few times a day. But as I posted above, relocating the cache file and limiting the size of it seems to have made a difference. I do not save any passwords in Slimjet or in my Google account. But thanks for the advice. After work today I will take a look. Right now I have the browser set to delete the cache every time I close it.
