Suggested methods for installing Slimjet browser

Post by NicoleJS »

My first attempt at installing anything not in the official/alienbob/slackbuild repos was the Slimjet browser. It is working but I can't imagine I used the best method. http://bestringtones.mobi/instrumental-ringtones/ -Here is what I did:

-extracted zipped file to /opt/
-ran the /opt/slimjet/flashpeak-slimjet wrapper as instructed on their website and chose #2 (su, type of root access)
-created executable script /usr/bin/slimjet that just executes /opt/slimjet/flashpeak-slimjet -

I made the script in /usr/bin so 'slimjet' would show up in the dmenu options. So everything seems to work great except there is no 'Slimjet' application in any XFCE or LXDE application menus. This is fine with me because I mostly use i3wm and dmenu to launch applications but I thought I'd throw this one out there to get feedback and recommendations.

Thank you.
