Worked fine until last night. Glad to see it isn't just me. Maybe they will get it figured out and release a new version. I tried using a portable version, no luck with it either. Thank God I had a portable version of chrome saved to external drive. This SUCKS!

The base version of Chromium is way too old in 42, so many sites and features don't work properly anymore... Even in 43.

Can´t confirm this. I was using 43.0.2.0 since release till now and never had problems till this morning.

Same story here. Have 44.5 on Win10 machine, worked fine till about 9 AM today, then crashed out. Have 43.9 on Win11 laptop that hadn't been touched in days, always worked fine, same story today. Downloaded purportedly latest version from Slimjet site (using Slimbrowser - good to have an alternative - although for the last few months, won't display names on tabs except for current, very annoying). Ran installer, got V38! Don't want to run, it will mess up my config info. Also for the longest time, Slimjet will not let me "save image as" or download PDFs (have to print as PDF workaround) or download bank and financial statements (have to use Slimbrowser). Also have had problems getting extensions.
Totally don't trust Edge, may have to hold my nose and go to Chrome or???
Guess I've been spoiled all these years. Also a warning, Slimjet likes to lunch passwords, happened this week, be sure to export frequently.

I can confirm that version 42.0.1.0 is working. I downloaded the 64-bit installer (sjtsetup_x64.exe) from here:

The installer overwrote the newer version I was using (v43.0.8.0) that has been crashing since last night. Rolling back to the older version did break some of my extensions which I had to reinstall. Bookmarks were fine.

A similar problem happened back on August 17th of this year where the weather API that Slimjet uses was unable to load the button icon and was crashing the browser. Slimjet devs fixed that issue I thought. Maybe that issue is the source of today's problems again. See here for reference:

Portable 44.0.5.0 W10.

Same 'crash on start' as many found above.

Sequence: error box '?send diags' on start; '?restore pages'. [have a zillion opentabs and want to preserve so always pick Y.] =>crash

These all fail: Reboot; reload from yesterday's 25/10 (working) backup; offline startup; fallback (with settings preservation) to portable 43.0.9.0; then portable 42.0.3.0; then portable 41.0.2.0.

Noticed that old (preserved) portable 40.0.2.0 still works on same W10 box (but different settings and less, but still lots, of tabs on startup].

Finally found a WORKROUND. Created a/c here; Got the activation link and clicked...which defaulted to opening portable 41.0.2.0. [send diags=n, restore tabs=y] which WORKED (no crash - I'm typing this on it @moment).

So [since 25/10/2024]: there is something about the 'tab with focus' at startup on portables v41,v42,v43,v44. V40 *may* be immune.

Thanks a lot! 42.0.1.0 is still working. All others starting from 43-0-9-0 and forth are bailing out while I tried to synchronize my google account, also on opening any site. Weird.

I too am seeing the shutdown on opening new pages in both 44.0.2.0 and 44.0.4.0 chromium 126.0.6478.17-based versions on two 64-bit Linux Mint systems. This behavior began about 9AM Pacific time this morning.

I am writing this using the latest chromium-based Thorium browser version 128.0.6613.189 and have not experienced the problem with that browser on either system.

Yesterday Slimjet 44.0.5 was working after the update. This afternoon, it crashes as soon as I click one of custom links (I have 12 but it doesn't matter which one I click).

Previous problem when this happened, I installed the Beta version, and it worked along with all Slimjet updates until this last one.

Software installed:
I have LassPass for password logon security,
Gmail (personal) and Gmail (NTWS),
weather apps,
Navy Together We Served [NTWS] (several other military service logins),
Find-a-grave,
2 person/telephone/zip code search engines and
Avast Premimun Security & firewall.

I'm the Chief Admin for NTWS. I was on the site from 8 am until 10:15 am when I logged off and had no issues with current version at that time. I was notified by Avast I needed to Restart my computer for updates. After this Slimjet update is when Slimjet started crashing.

Previous two crash reports show:
[1026/151425.595:ERROR:registration_protocol_win.cc(136)] TransactNamedPipe: The pipe has been ended. (0x6D) This was after the restart.

[1026/151810.716:ERROR:crashpad_client_win.cc(144)] crash server failed to launch, self-terminating This was after the 43.09 version crashed.


I am currently working with Edge (my only other browser),

I removed Slimjet from my system and tried uploading 43.09 versions, but they have the same result as the current version. I will try the 42.01 version and report back if it succeeds or fails.

I downloaded version 42.0.1 and installed it. After playing some 'games' with Google, I was able to bring Slimjet up and I can open any of the 12 links shown. I don't get a desktop icon created though and have to use my other Navy side icon to access the personal side Slimjet. From the Slimjet site I don't see any mention of 44.0.6.
What does make this current version crash is clicking the GEAR icon on the upper right side to access the menu options. The only way I can validate the version number is from the Control Panel's Program and Features. There's still some kind of problem that may be left over from installing previous versions. My next step will be remove all Slimjet folders and current install to try for a Fresh Install.

42.0.1 and 42.0.3 are stable versions. Everything above that is unstable at the moment.

Wow, I never would have thought that this wasn't a "just me" problem.

It's like something important expired.
