The issue has been fixed in 43.0.8. Please update. The third-party weather API returns a webp image format even if the file name says PNG and thus caused an unexpected crash.
Can't find the 43.0.8 version showing yet with any internet searches.

Thanks for your quick work!

Where should the 43.0.8 version be available? The Slimjet download page is still showing the 43.0.7 version labels for both Windows and Linux download links.

Same issue, just started today. Running Kubuntu Linux (fully updated).

Was using 43.0.2.0, upgraded to 43.0.7.0, same problem.

I see that we're directed to install 43.0.8, but it's not yet on the download page.

Hope it appears soon.

For those of you die-hard Windows 7 users: I'm using the last SJ version compatible with Win 7 (38.0.10.0), and I followed Kewpycat's excellent step-by-step directions posted on 8/17, and my SJ has been opening and working flawlessly ever since.

Note to Stephen Cheng: Any chance you'll put out an update with the fix for those of us forced to continue using SJ Ver. 38? Stephen, please don't forget about us Win 7 users when it comes to compatibility/usability issues like this one.
Windows 7 Pro (64bit), SJ Version 38.0.10.0 (32bit)

I am happy to report that the new 43.0.8 .deb file I downloaded from the updated download page is installed and working great.

It's good to have it working again. There really is "no place like home" -- thank-you Stephen!

Just downloaded and installed the Web Installer version. It didn't change anything. No Shortcut created and still doesn't start Slimjet.

The Offline installer only shows a note about not commonly used and need to authorize it. Hmm, neither shows it 43.0.8 in the Details of Property info.

A bigger problem is Explorer now says having problems with my Download folder and it keeps closing. I can't even get to the file just downloaded by Web Installer version.

This is all messed up!

I too used Kewpycat's directions and it worked for me as well on windows 7,10, and 11.

The problem arises when it tries to update itself before I could remove the icon off the toolbar and the weather icon from the homepage, hence more crashing.

The work around I used was disconnecting from the internet first then delete the png's and then removing both icons from the toolbar and from the homepage. Once I removed the icons then I reconnected to the internet and all was fine.

Well, just downloaded the latest version 43.0.8 and the results are the same. Nothing works: Shows Slimjet installed today from the Control Panel; no shortcut icon built on my desktop; older icon (disabled it) was activated and just shows the hourglass for seconds before disappearing nor activates Slimjet.exe.

Stange is the Task Master is showing 3 instances of Slimjet running (tried starting it 3 times). It shows All running since ‎Sunday, ‎August ‎18, ‎2024, ‏‎9:56:57 AM I canceled them all. Tried the Run as Admin for the desktop Slimjet and all 3 show up again (same date/time stamp).

The system was Restarted late yesterday afternoon and those 3 Slimjet tasks should have been cancelled.

Anyone home here from Flashpeak?

I still can't get Slimjet to work. The last supposed fix isn't working. This has been going on since Aug 17th and all I get are emails from some bot.

By the way, I tried again to start Slimjet and now 4 tasks show up in the Task Master showing the same date.

How about an actual live person contacting me!

Hello Apierson,
It would seem that you must have some other issue or corruption going on that's causing your difficulty with Slimjet.

The only thing I could suggest to you is to create an account over at Bleepingcomputer dot com and ask someone there for help. I've had good luck with them and they are very conscientious and thorough, although it DOES sometimes take a bit of patience on your part as to how fast (or slowly) they get back to you. Usually it's not too bad though. Another important thing with them is, make sure you follow their instructions exactly, don't jump ahead and try things on your own once they start the process-they really don't like that!

I'm sure they'll guide you (first and foremost) on backing up your system (always have a "safety net"!) then have you download and install some diagnostic and reporting programs and post the report(s) back to them. Then, (I'm assuming) they'll have you install a robust "Uninstalling" program (Like Revo)that'll help clear out any corruption that might exist with your current install of Slimjet and well as probably clean out the registry. Only downside that you'll have to be willing to accept is that you'll most likely loose any customizations you might have with Slimjet, but I would think that a small price to pay to get you back up and running.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
