cleaning your cache actually slows web page loading, that's why its there so the browser can see if you've already visited a page if so that site will load quicker. Same if you limit the cache too small :)

Before the advent of broadband connections, having a large cache would be desirable. I have always set my cache size in Firefox to no more than 100 MB. Too large of a cache can result in slow browsing as the cache is checked and compared with what is available on the current revisited website. I am on a 30 Mbps connection and speed test at 37 most any time of day.

I do not save any passwords in Slimjet or in my Google account. But thanks for the advice. After work today I will take a look. Right now I have the browser set to delete the cache every time I close it.
I also use ccleaner but at this time it does not support SlimJet...you'll have to use the method I described above. Ccleaner supports Chrome, which is supposed to work on SJ, but for some reason the developers of SJ chose to use totally different folders than Chrome, so ccleaner does not work on SJ.

A small cache may help some web sites load faster, depending on how long it's been since you last loaded that site, but as the cache grows it takes the browser much longer to parse the cached data..

Doesn't quite work like that as having a large cache doesn't always slows down web page loading as heuristics, pre-connecting and even pre-rendering of pages are being used more and more by browsers nowadays and having a broadband connection doesn't really affect page loading if you comparing broadband i get 200 mbps and i can pretty much say there wouldn't be a noticeable difference to you opening say google search and me opening it cache cleared or not cleared. You would see a difference in download speed tho :D
We are pretty lucky as i would say the masses are still on dsl/ADSL /SDSL copper lines, mind you better than the blup bleep of dial up  god them was the days

Well there is a way to have CCleaner recognize Slimjet. And this is how I have it set up.

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=123#p551

Works great !

What I did yesterday was to create a new folder for Slimjet cache that is located elsewhere in the "Google" directory in my app data folder. I added this new location in the Slimjet settings and limited the size also. I also have Slimjet set to empty the cache when I close the browser, but not the cookies. I use CCleaner's cookie manager to keep cookies for certain sites that I want to save, such as this one.

So right now, the end result is that Slimjet at least for me seems to be working much better than it had been. I have experienced no issues loading sites and no issues with the browser crashing when I click on a bookmark the way it had been.

Slimjet is recognized by CCleaner (running CCEnhancer) https://singularlabs.com/software/ccenhancer/ or you can get the winapp here https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2/

Yes, I use that, but there are fewer cleaning options available than what is provided under the Chrome category. I do not check anything under Slimjet in CCleaner. Also, cookie management does not work as far as being able to save Slimjet cookies unless you save them as Chrome cookies. So I prefer using the method of linking the Slimjet data folder into the Google folder in app data.

But I must repeat...I have had no repeat of any "taking a long time to load" issues or "clicking on a bookmark crash the browser" issues since relocating and limiting my cache directory. Maybe just a coincidence ?
