192.168.0.1 - not private

Post by Heirophant »

I'm thinking of moving from my current browser (Maxthon) and I'm evaluating SlimJet Version 23.0.4.0

Trying to log into my router admin and I'm being told the connection is not private. I tried in Chrome and get the same problem. Any suggestions apart from keeping Maxthon around for accessing the router?

I get the same response using Pale Moon, but I can overcome it there by making an exception.

I don't have any advanced to click on.

I put the router's address in, up pops a login dialog and it tells me "your connection to this site is not private". Any attempt to log in is blocked and another login dialog pops up, with the original one left there.

The router is an 16 year old Netgear one and doesn't do https.

I'm astounded that SlimJet (or I suppose Chrome) is blocking access to a local address on the basis its not private

More research and it looks like an issue with Chrome not accepting NULLs and NetGear are unlikely to issue a firmwear fix for a 15 year old router. I've used Delphi to create a small app just for this purpose.
