Export/Import all personal data from Slimjet to a new install

Post by Walker1945 »

Is it possible to export all personal data from one instance of Slimjet for import to a new instance of Slimjet without using a Google Cloud account? If not, why not? (Export/Import should be 'one click' easy) - I really don't want all that basic personal data in the cloud, even if only in transit
.

http://www.slimjet.com/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=115 and bookmarks can be backed up and imported through bookmark mananger ..As for personal data in the cloud . why would you have any stored in a browser if you are concerned about privacy ?

I think the OP means things like passwords and history. You can copy the profile of the old version and use it with the new one. It is a good idea to back up the profile anyway.

Thanks for your reply. I'll look to see if ~/.config/slimjet includes bookmarks and, if not, live with a two step backup procedure.

Because I'd rather not re-enter all that data each time I start a browser (besides my system disk is Truecrypt encrypted and not running when I'm not present).

Thanks for your reply. You have my intended meaning, viz. export/import: passwords, history, extensions, white-lists, settings, and so on.

I agree that backup of ~/.profile is a good practice.

Thanks again.

i got that hence my reply system profile is usually unless user has made changes to locale stored in userdata folder which just easier to drag the whole folder into a new instance of slimjet after deleting said folder from new install to me . You save all data then just saving profile doesn't save like the op has mentioned Local Extension Settings :)
