image copy paste problem

Post by surveyor »

PCLinuxOS MATE desktop Slimjet 19.0.4.0 and up to date Irfanview. I often need to copy/past images into Irfanview (image viewer) and this works perfectly in various other browsers, but not in Slimjet.
I can right click and copy/paste (the jpeg) into LibreOffice or GIMP with no problem but when I try to paste into Irfanview the paste option is greyed out.
In all other regards Slimjet performs really well so I would like to try to resolve this copy/paste irritation therefore, if anyone can throw light on it or suggest a fix, I would be most gratefull.

With Thanks. :)

in the browser go to settings

type clipboard into the search area at the top

follow the yellow highlights and drill down until you get to clipboard related settings; it will require scrolling and clicking a couple times

play with the settings and see if you can affect the desired behaviour

Thanks oftentired for your reply which came to nought but here is what I have just posted on the PCLinuxOS forum.

Still trying to resolve this and here is the latest.

Asked a question on the Slimjet forum but no suggestions worked.

Synaptic has installed a Slimjet update, great, but no change in the copy/paste.
I thought it might be something to do with Wine so looked at the Wine File Manager but it made absolutely no sense to me :? :?

Tried to find the clipboard to see what was showing, but could not find the clipboard, anywhere ! :? :?

Synaptic again came to the rescue and I installed CopyQ, great, now I can see the images that I have copied.

Irfanview still does not have the Edit paste option activated until I right click on the image (in CopyQ) and select ''Move to Clipboard'' whereupon the Edit/paste option in Irfanview is activated and I can paste the image.

Although this resolves the issue I would like to learn more, so the next question is why does Slimjet not put a copied image onto the clipboard or why does the MATE clipboard not accept images copied with Slimjet.

Any enlightenment gratefully received. :)

You may want to consider bringing this issue directly to the developer using this webpage
