Slimjet 17.0.6.0 - Troubles with BitDefender

Post by BrezzaTM »

Hi all, as the subject points out I'm having troubles with Slimjet 17.0.6.0 and my antivirus BitDefender. Yesterday the browser updated itself and when finished oddly it didn't restart, today things are going worst because the antivirus continues to move "slimjet.exe" to its quarantine identifying it as a "Gen:Suspicious.Cloud.4.ZJ1@aWOD2Tki" threat, the only way to start the browser is to rename the exe file.

Any advice? :?:

Thanks in advance. :)

That is odd. BitDefender is giving my Slimjet.EXE a clean bill of health. And all of the other anti-virus too when I test it on VirusTotal.

Upload yours to VirusTotal and see what shows there for yours.

Maybe do a manual download and re-install. See what BitDefender does with the re-install.

Mostly my replies are about Windows OS. If not I try to remember to specify Linux.

Hi and thanks for your answer,

didn't tried a VirusTotal scan (going to) on the other hand tried a manual re-install and BD blocked the installation process, I had to take the compressed installation exe, move it into slimjet folder and launch it to extract it, thus worked but BD still recognise slimjet.exe as a threat, I had to rename it slimjett.exe and this way I can use the browser without antivirus complains :P I'm having the issue of links clicked on docs or similar do not open 'cos the system doesn't find the default browser exe.

At this very moment I'm thinking that slimjet.exe has been put on a kind of blacklist database used by common antiviruses to check on the fly the files, I'm not an expert just guessing...

EDIT: just did a scan with BD and no threats found so I renamed it back to slimjet.exe and did another scan of it and no threats, seems that the BD update solved the issue, I hope

Was probably an accidental positive on BD side. Maybe an issue with a definition update corrected with the next update.
