No versions after 13.0.9.0 work in Linux Mint 17.3

Post by korovalad »

Hi guys

None of the versions after Slimjet 13.0.9.0 seem to work on my system with Linux Mint 17.3
13.0.9.0 works great but when I update to any of the various 14.x.x.x. versions it installs fine, but when I click the icon to launch the browser nothing happens.

I tried both installing over previous versions as well as a clean install of a slimjet_amd64.deb and both don't result in a working version 14 browser.

Anyone who knows how to fix this and get the browser started. In the meantime I'm stuck 13.0.9.0

Thanks

Frank

I have already mentioned in other sites in this forum that version 14 has problems that have not been solved.

You can fix this by replacing /opt/slimjet/lib/libffmpeg.so. I found the instructions in the comments section of the Slimjet downloads page.
There can be two copies of libffmpeg.so. One sits under the Slimjet installation folder. One sits under the lib subfolder. The one under the lib folder takes precedence. Right now, the advice is to remove the lib folder completely and install 0.20.3 version of libffmpeg.so directly under the same folder as slimjet executable.
and
You might have installed an old version of external libffmpeg.so which is no longer compatible with the current version of Slimjet. Please remove /opt/slimjet/lib/libffmpeg.so. That should fix the problem. You can find the updated libffmpeg.so from this page: github . com/iteufel/nwjs-ffmpeg-prebuilt/releases/tag/0.20.3
