SJ-10_x64 deb segfaults on Deb-8.4 [WORK-AROUND]

Post by RichardH »

First it refused to start on 386-deb; now it refuses to start on x64-deb.
It seems almost as if it has a counter that segfaults after certain executions?
It runs and works great for awhile, and then, it only segfaults.

On 32 bit last week, it seemed to resolve itsself with sj-9070.
This week on 64 bit, sj-1001 was working fine; and then it only segfaults.
Mind, this is happening on 2 different boxes: a 32 bit netbook and now on my 64 bit desktop.
What am I doing wrong?
Is there a known conflict with some other app?
Sure hope you can find the problem.
I see that 10.0.2.0 is out.
Will download and see if problem is resolved.

Nope. This is what it says:

Code: Select all

richard@mx64:/DATL/Apps-Deb-64/Slimjet/slimjet_1000
$ flashpeak-slimjet
[15661:15661:0524/180752:ERROR:process_singleton_posix.cc(246)] readlink(/tmp/.org.chromium.Chromium.Au2luS/SingletonCookie) failed: Permission denied
Segmentation fault

does it crash immediately after startup? Or does it need some specific operation to trigger the crash?

Hi, thanks for asking.
Yes, it does. Repeatedly.
From the error message, perhaps there is a permissions problem?
Perhaps from something I did?

I should have remembered from the Mozilla/Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox days
about renaming the Default folder. Well, I renamed the whole
/home/<user>/.config/slimjet/ folder to /home/<user>/.config/slimjet.old/
Installed sj-x64-1002 over 0906 just to be sure.
And, as expected, it starts right up.

WORK-AROUND:
Probably best to only rename the /home/<user>/.config/slimjet/Default/ folder
but I was tired of not being able to get in. :)
Now [all] I have to do is reconfigure everything.

I don't really remember a crash. I just closed sj for some reason, then it wouldn't start.
If it happens again, I'll try to make notes immediately before I forget.
