A few minutes ago I started my computer and opened SJ. A new update was reported, and I accepted it. Then a little window opened that I never have seen before. It was named "downloading job" or something like that. When the progress bar in this window had reached the end, the strange window closed. I waited a few minutes while nothing happened, then I tried to open the settings, but SJ didn't react on anything. So I used the Task Manager to close SJ and tried to re-open it, then Win7 asked me to accept changes, I clicked on OK, and a few seconds later it says "failed to update slimjet".
What is the best way to reanimate my SJ wihthout loosing bookmarks?

Go to the Product Download page and download the offline installer that is best for your system. Use that to install.

Thank you! - but after uninstalling SJ (without settings) and installing the offline version I still get the message "failed to update slimjet".

If Slimjet will run, click Settings:Help:About Slimjet and check the version

Re: Update killed SJ - HELP!!!
This problem was with the 9.0.4.0 32bit from the offline installer you recommended. So I used Windows Recovery to recover SJ from the time before the fatal update. After more than 3 hours the recovery was finished and I wanted to open the slimjet.exe, but all I got was the "failed to update slimjet" message.
Then I installed the 9.0.3.0 64bit version in a different folder. It worked fine, so I updated to see what happens. The error page appeared showing "Error 500". But SJ didn't crash, and it's still working the way it should - and the Help:About says "version 9.0.4.0". But without all my bookmarks and other settings. The dropdown menu of the multibar shows pages I used only before the fatal update, so my bookmarks might still be somewhere in my computer - but where???
Meanwhile I found a html with my bookmarks from a backup I made last july. That's better than nothing, but loosing all the bookmarks beeing relevant for my present projects is quite anoying.
