Changing of the Blink/Chromium engine version

Post by Demon777 »

Hello,

Very happy with your browser but only one stops me to use it as my basic browser and this is the old Blink/Chromium engine version.

That is why I would like to ask you whether you will change Blink/Chromium engine version or not and if not why?

Regards

I think this project is dead!

If you want an alternative based on Chromium that also preserves privacy, have a look here:

Or download the portable version directly @ PortableApps.com:

The project is not dead; the developers do not work at a pace dictated by the users. They have made every effort to bring forward engine updates that should be brought forward with Slimjet. They have made every effort to develop the browser to meet the needs of the users as best possible while maintaining the standards they have set for themselves regarding what this browser will and will not be and do. The developers have indicated that they are making every reasonable effort to update Slimjet with chromium engine updates in a timely manner. But they have from time to time determined that it is in the best interest of Slimjet to bypass an update. The decision to do this lay solely with the developers; it is not our decision to make as users.

There are "living" programming projects that only come out with updates every 6 months or even once a year and some even longer yet they remain alive. In comparison Slimjet is a rabbit with almost countless updates (perhaps even an annoying amount) since it was released to the public. The developers of Slimjet are extraordinarily courteous people who have far more patience with users than I do. If they determine that the time has come to abandon this project I am certain that they will have the courtesy to post such on this forum for all of us to read.

I am asking you to stop making untruthful doom and gloom type statements until such a time that it can truly be said that there will be no more updates. I am giving you fair warning that future "doom and gloom" type statements which allude to or specifically state the demise of the Slimjet project will be examined closely. I will begin the examination from the premise that your post is intended to Troll the forum rather than edify the users of this forum. I will then either delete you entire post or prune any statements which I find unacceptable.

I believe that you and every user who comes to this forum is capable of making topics and replies that help and assist other users. Please continue to post on this forum with that in mind.

To be fair a lot of users have been left stranded by developers without notice especially in chromium based projects and the fact that browsers get lot of fresh security scares when a browser does not update for a period of time the user base does get a bit jittery, in saying that tho i do agree with oftentired that the developers here seem to be quite open and hardworking in making slimjet up to date with features based on user input readily included in new builds.
They have said certain builds of chrome would be skipped as they implemented features that are not wanted or a security concern to the users of slimjet and in that i would imagine chrome 45 might be one as it has got rid of NPAPI plugin support completely.

If you are really worried about security in any browser updated or not install this https://www.malwarebytes.org/antiexploi ... racking=cj
