Slimjet needs to be launched twice to work

Post by Joel »

OS: Fresh reinstall of Windows 11 Home x64, 23H2

I installed Slimjet on this computer for the first time after reinstalling Windows.
Whenever I launch it (Slimjet), it won't load websites until I close it and re-launch it. Then it works.

Any suggestions as to why this happens and how to fix?

I do not remember seeing this problem discussed. But I do have questions.

A. the on startup page that appears when first running what do you have it set as?
B. then, the second instance, what is the page that shows for that when it starts? Same or different and what is it?
C. then, what page shows when you open a new tab? Compare that to the A and B above. I would try a new tab from the first instance before going anywhere and see if that does anything different regarding this problem. Then I would try a new tab from the second instance that you currently have to run as described in your post.

Note down the results, then from that point going forward. I would start to fiddle with the Settings for Home Page and On Startup. These are two different sections in the Settings. If you search settings for home page that will appear at the top and scrolling down a bit will reveal the On Startup section.
For those of you who wear aluminum foil hats, the voices lie, don't believe them!
Mostly my replies are about Windows OS. If not I try to remember to specify Linux.

Thanks for the informative reply. I think I'm simply going to leave Slimjet altogether. Recent issues with Linux are still not resolved, and now it's acting up on Windows. I just don't have the time & mental energy to troubleshoot issues with this browser anymore.

Ten years of great experience with Slimjet took a nosedive the past couple months. Maybe I'll check it out again after a few more versions are released, but I don't know...
