Here's hoping so.Will 44.0.6.0 be available for Linux soon?
Re: Suddely keeps crashing without any changes
If I install an older version while waiting for the bug to be fixed, will I lose all settings, aliases, etc...?

Thanks for your onest and understandable answer. I trust in Flashpeak anyway but to be onest too, in this case i would personally prefer to read a more accurate description in the release notes than an inaccurate one. A simple one like "Some crashes fixed" would at least avoid any confusion. But that's just a side note. I would also like to thank you for your quick and unconventional help.oftentired wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 10:04 amWon't happen. Private software that he developed for his own use originally released for public use as Slimbrowser then moved onward from there. Slimjet is the third browser engine he's wrapped his own code around. Only the developer and any team members he involves are privy to the technical details. If he ever decides to move the code to public domain then I have no doubt all the details will be available.sweethoneybee wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 7:49 amPossible is always a lot but it would be better to get informed about what really is going on.SanchoActual wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 7:45 am
It's possible the developer simply forgot to change the version number in the code, esp. if you see the hash has changed.

That's good, thank you SHB.
Re: Suddely keeps crashing without any changes
They posted a new version on Saturday (44.0.6.0) and it's working as per normal.

Hi
Updated to version 44.0.6.0, browser doesn't crash anymore.
But now there's another problem, after the update my laptopfan started to make a lot of noise,
checked the taskmanager and Slimjet is constantly taking up more than 17% of the processor
and now and then over 20%.
Even if I have only 2 or three tabs open processor usage is high.
That's not good, before the last update never a problem, also when i use a version of dec. 2023
no problem.

The version for Linux users is still 44.0.5.0. I downloaded it Sunday and the crashes continued, so I don't think it's a renaming error.
For now I've gone back to 42.0.1.0 but I had to uninstall first, which meant I lost some settings.

It's all because of "Utility: Passage Embeddings Service". Possibly.radiotoestel wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 4:50 amHi

Open the browser task manager and you'll see it.
There are already several threads about this here.
I periodically had one processor core loaded at 99.8%

They advise disabling - slimjet:flags -> History Embeddings -> Disabled.
I disabled it yesterday and everything is fine for now.
I don't know how correct this decision is in general. I don't understand such subtleties.
