Still use for Duckduckgo

Hi, I am using duckduckgo as a search machine and homepage instead of google, because of the obvious privacy reasons.
Can I go back to google again, (I still like their results more) or better stay with duckduckgo?

Try https://startpage.com/ if you don't like duckgo, as to using google it all depends on what your searching for really if its dodgy (porn, pirate films etc) don't use it, if its say you want to buy a new computer its fine. I just never sign into google when i'm using their search.

I'll add this to NO ONE is really secure or private if your on the internet even with a VPN. Something will always leak out to prying eyes.

Can startpage get through the colleges firewall? At my school duckduckgo has been blocked, not even the extension is downloadable.

TBH I have no idea, you could only but try. It all depends on what is filtered, I'm more interested in why block a search engine? Is google search blocked?
Both duckgo and startpage use google search results themselves the only difference is that whatever you search, your IP, etc is not recorded or stored on their servers plus no tracking or cookies are used where google does.

No, but I believe they block anything related to a vpn.

Thanks for the answer,
I think I like that startpage.com very much. Very good first impression.

Well if duckgo is in the banned ip ranges of the firewall there's not a lot you can do about it. Hopefully startpage is not in the blocked ranges. Just be careful as i imagine there is a high risk of being expelled if you circumvent the college's firewall
