Windows 10 build 14316 Narrow font issue

I just updated from 9.0.1.0 to 9.0.2.0 in Win10 and find that seemingly all pages, including internal ones, use a narrow font. I have not changed the font settings (it's still on Medium). Is this just a quirk here?

Problem Identified

One other user has reported the problem so far that I've seen. It is odd that it doesn't happen in Chrome itself, which surely uses the same font as the above.

I don't see that here. Did you by any chance apply a zooming percentage smaller than 100%? Press ctrl+0 should reset it.

No, that's still on 100%.

As a sanity check, I ran Chrome and all looks normal there. This gives you a better look at the problem, with Slimjet on top and Chrome on the bottom:

Feel free to delete the thread.

This turns out to be a Windows 10 problem with build 14316, which coincidentally was installed not long before the Slimjet upgrade. I've subsequently found the problem in Vivaldi and Cent, too.

Definitely a Win10 14316 issue. Prior to 14316 fonts were like those on my Win7 machine,
and I do not remember it being a problem with Win10 14295 insider preview.

But i still haven't found out WHY!

All I know is I'm tired of squinting and use Firefox if I want to see normally,

Please don't close this thread yet. Others may want to respond.

Unfortunately, 14328 doesn't help.

Disabling DirectWrite in chrome:flags works around the problem.

chrome://flags/#disable-direct-write

Thanks, this works. Much better not having to squint so hard!

Except now that flag is being eliminated as of Chromium 52:
http://www.ghacks.net/2016/06/06/chrome ... ing-google

With it enabled, as of the latest build of Win10 Insider, it's still a problem in Slimjet and Cent, but hasn't been a problem in Vivaldi for a while somehow. And for me at least, somehow never was a problem in Chrome.
