Extension Buttons on toolbar showing all of a sudden

Extensions that never had a button or need a button on the toolbar have suddenly appeared. I removed them but once I restart they reappear. Its pointless having the buttons as they don't do anything since these extensions never needed a button. How can I get it back to the way it was before?

Which extensions and/or buttons? No one can help without specifics.

Also see my posts on the Bug Reports and General forums re Word Highlight extension and on the issue in general, including the WeatherUnderground button, both of which appeared without permission.

this a feature that google chrome as done, all have to do is left click/hold on icon/button you don't want see and drag to the setting cog icon and place it in the menu there or just right click on icon/button then scroll to hide in slimjet menu

That works with extensions, but does it work with extensions such as Word Highlight, which say it can't be removed (on the Extensions page)?
