Brave is working perfectly and YouTube videos can be downloaded in seconds as opposed to ages with Slimjet.
Not having to worry about installing libffmpeg.so, which requires root access, is a relief too. I don't think Slimjet is worth the trouble on Linux. Works okay on Windows, but I rarely boot into that.

.....which is - unfortunately - a complete waste of time.
As a Chromium user ever since the first release all the way back in 2008, and a Slimjet user of around 8 years, I can state quite confidently that there's a major compilation bug here. This should NOT be happening.

I'm pasting my comment here too:
after weeks of struggling with some videos not playing on Slimjet anymore (but working fine OOTB in Chrome/Brave/Firefox/etc.) I'm afraid I have to switch to another browser; now that I just upgraded to Slimjet 37.1 and now NO MEDIA PLAYS AT ALL. Not even audio-only from bandcamp, for instance.
This is ridiculous.
I've tried a dozen
libffmpeg.so versions and none work anymore... this makes no sense.
The instructions on
https://www.slimjet.com/en/libffmpeg.php have been updated with wrong information for the last 2 versions at least.
I've enjoyed Slimjet very much for years and I'm glad I donated, but unresolved bugs keep piling up and nobody's answering...
Unless serious action is taken very quickly, I'm afraid everyone is going to leave the boat very soon (at least among Linux users).

PS: Media is playing fine with latest "working" slimjet version 35.3 (quite old already, using Chromium 101 instead of 107 for Slimjet 37, and 110 for actual Chromium) and latest libffmpeg.so 0.70.1, so this confirms the issue started in slimjet 36 and worsened in 37. I might try to remain on 35 but it's not going to stay an option for much longer...

It appears that Version 38.0.8.0 (based on Chromium 109.0.5414.74) is now working, in conjunction with libffmpeg.so version 0.66.0

Which Linux did you try this on(ditro+version or kernel)? And which video sites/types?

Mageia 8 My uname -a gives:
Linux Artemis 5.15.98-desktop-1.mga8 #1 SMP Sat Mar 4 12:16:27 UTC 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
The amd64 .tar.xz from the Slimjet site (not the .deb)
libffmpeg-0.66.0-linux-x64 (which I had already, as I had been using it with slimjet 35.0.3.0)
So far, every site with video I have tried has worked - I haven't found one that failed.
