Saw this in the release notes. Why? As this version works in XP SP3?
"Remove warnings about XP and Vista support."

For users running XP or Vista, when starting 8.0 beta, the underlying blink engine was generating a yellow information bar across the top of the browser window just below where your tabs appear. The warning was that, "This computer will soon stop receiving Google Chrome updates because Windows XP and Windows Vista will no longer be supported." The developers determined that they did not need this warning appearing every time the browser was started and they turned it off.
At some point in the future the browser may stop functioning (or run with annoying possibly disabling bugs) on the XP or Vista OS. Users reaching this point will need to revert to the last stable version or upgrade for their OS.

Re: version 8 release notes
I have been getting increasingly bad video performance on XP machines, using either html5 or flash, so bad that I sent the owner back to IE8 for watching youtube. So the continuation of support for xp might be academic.
