Hello,

I wanted to download a file by FTP protocol but it doesn't work, the browser doesn't seem to support the FTP protocol

So I have to use another browser to download it.
Would it be possible to add FTP support for the browser ?

Thank you in advance if you answered this message

I doubt you will see FTP support built in. You can find extensions at the google store for FTP.

Precisely, there is no FTP support on Slimjet, for the extensions that support the FTP protocol I will see that, it would be great if there was an FTP support, it would be an additional feature :)

It is best to use an FTP client designed specifically for the purpose, not a browser that happens to support it, nor an extension.

...it's possible: go to slimjet/chrome flags page and set "Enable support for FTP URLs" to enabled.

Still not the best solution if you want more nearly complete control over your FTP downloads.

Afterwards, if you just want to download a file via FTP, this support is largely sufficient.

I understand that you are facing issues while downloading any file from an FTP site Because once it happened to me with this site file (https://gbapps.net/). There could be windows firewall preventing you to connect to FTP (file transfer protocol) sites.

1) What is the make and model of your computer?

2) What happens when you try to download a file from any other website?

3) What happens when you download any other file like Microsoft Word document, pictures etc.?

I suggest you to follow the below link to troubleshoot the issues with Internet explorer and check if it helps.

Method 1: Add exception

We have to adjust the setting to allow FTP connections.

Click “Start”.
Click "Control Panel".
Click on "Network and Internet".
Click on "Windows Firewall".
Click on "Change Setting".
Click on the "Exceptions" tab.
Under that tab, put a check mark next to the FTP port 21. This should allow connections to FTP sites.
Click "OK" on the Firewall settings and close the other windows.
Restart your computer and try to connect to the FTP site again.
Method 2: Use Passive FTP

Passive FTP is a more secure form of data transfer in which the flow of data is set up and initiated by the File Transfer Program (FTP) client rather than by the FTP server program. Follow the below steps to enable Passive FTP.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click on Tools and then click on Internet Options.

3. Go to the advanced tab.

4. Click to select the Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) check box under Browsing.

Thank you for your reply : )
But this is not exactly the expected answer !
I was just complaining that Slimjet didn't support FTP, for the rest everything is fine, I can access the FTP protocol (like cilent I use FilleZilla).
But thanks anyway : )
