Which makes me wonder about the feasibility of a new function for SJ: overriding Chromium's google-imposed extension limitations.

As long as the author keeps the code updated on github or other there is no worries, you can still use drag and drop method into the extension page. I've got some old userscripts from 2010 that still run and work in slimjet and chrome, in fact most of my extensions are not installed from the chrome store itself but either the extension homepage if they have one or github.

Oh dear Dev, this is where I appeal to your knowledge and me not understanding, what is :-

I Run ublock with just Fanboy+Easylist-Merged Ultimate List and ghostery in conjunction with ublock and i don't see any ads.

I've got the beginning bit ie uBlock, and want the end bit don't want any ads, but it's that bit in the middle I don't understand and if it's not too complicated, would like to try it. Meanwhile, I'll google with some of your words.

OK, time to change back to AdBlockPlus and have added(I think) Fanboy+Easylist-Merged Ultimate List because I clicked on "Add easylist to ABP", didn't see anything on screen when I clicked it, then unchecked allow some advertising.

In a way, this is a doublepost because after installing the latest version of Slimjet, rebooting,Slimjet won't open, I've had to come to IE to gain entry to the forum.

Is it because of fiddling with adblocker or the new version?

Left laptop of for 30 mins, logged in to slimjet after a long wait. Looked at yahoo sign in page, full ad ?????

Islandman, make sure you don't have too many lists enabled for ublock. Each one takes processing power and slows down SJ. And make sure both ABP and uB are not enabled at the same time.

Here's a comprehensive update on ublock. ublocko is "origin", made necessary because the author has left the ublock project, but now taken down:

The rationale seems to be that gorhill considers ublock to be feature complete, so has no interest in taking it further. Thus the new ublock(o) is frozen more or less, while ublock itself, under someone else's care, is open to further development. So the situation is not as dire as it first appeared.

https://www.fanboy.co.nz/filters.html Its the very top list/first one. You can run it either in ublock or adblock plus but as paul rightly says may sure you haven't got both running.

Yeah i had just read that article before jumping on here, all seems a bit confusing as per google policy for takedowns but as i said before and so does martin on ghacks the drag/drop with the developers mode enable will allow you to run ublock not from the store.
