[SOLVED] Videos Crash Slimjet 18.0.1.0

Post by sleeper10 »

When I try to play any video whether html5 or flash, it crashes Slimjet 18.0.1.0 (32 bit). No problem with previous versions, settings are the same far as I know. Tried reinstall, disable extensions, incognito, etc. Videos play fine on Firefox. I'm on Linux Mint 18. Suggestions?

Anyone but me have this problem? I get the "Aw, snap!" page whenever I try to play any video. Not sure if it's a bug or not. Looked for a crash report, but none. Maybe it will be fixed in the next version.

Not for me.
You may get more definitive feedback if you provide examples of videos that won't play.

As I said, it's any & all videos. I thought maybe it's a 32 bit problem, but all play fine on Firefox. No problem with previous Slimjet versions, so I'll probably stick with 17.0.9.0 for now. Maybe my old Dell just can't handle chromium 64 for whatever reason.

Then again, it might be an ffmpeg problem. When I use the ffmpeg that came with 18.0.1, youtube videos play, but dailymotion videos crash. Switch to the github ffmpeg & all videos crash. Maybe needs a missing package, I dunno.

Yeah, that's the ffmpeg from github. Works fine for me on 17.0.9, but not 18.0.1. I'm stumped, so I'll just stick with 17.0.9 for now.

Running Slimjet 18.0.1.0 on several fully updated 64-bit Arch Linux systems.
Using libffmpeg.so as recommended at https://www.slimjet.com/en/libffmpeg.php

EVERY video fails; usually with an 'Aw, Snap!' error, but sometimes just seems to crash the tab.

Versions prior to this ran all videos fine. Something has gone dramatically wrong with version 18.

Exactly! Thanks for confirming it's not just me then. Since we both use linux, wonder if any windows users have this problem, or is it linux only?
