What is sufficient way to protect SJ (and PC) from malware?

Post by danielson »

Don't feel like investing or installing MalwareBytes...

Do have:
Windows Defender;
Adguard extension + Windows app.;
Avast Online Security https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... nfo-dialogextension;
WinPatrol.

Shouldn't this be good enough?

This isn't really a Slimjet question. I'm certain you can get a larger audience for this type of question on another forum.

What you have should be sufficient.

The most important ingredient to any PC protection plan is the human factor. Don't open suspicious email attachments, don't navigate to questionable websites, don't click links you have not investigated first, keep your browser security settings tightened up, don't fall/click on ANY website popup or link that gives you a warning this or that or you've been infected such and such.
For those of you who wear aluminum foil hats, the voices lie, don't believe them!

True.

Just thought i'd get a bit of feedback as to what SJ users do.
Last week, i was doing a search on sweet potatoes and somehow landed on a nasty page.
Was in Linux at the time so, maybe less hazardous.
Still, the link looked innocent.
Have also installed WOT since then.
Seems like when you have all angles covered, you still get unpleasant issues.

That is true. No PC is truly safe, unless your disconnected from the internet and you don't stick any storage devices into it.

You might also want to check your pc at Shields Up. Click on 'Proceed' & run the various scans 'File Sharing', 'Common Ports', etc.:
