I'd delete the history item, then the extension. Reinstall slimjet & perhaps add Click & Clean extension:

If all else fails, you can always reinstall Zorin.

Re: uBlock Origin
Thanks for the lead, Oftentired, however I think that is a Windows, not Linux, solution.
Thanks also Sleeper10, this looks worth following up.
Anyway, in the meantime, I am ready to go:
A
chrome-extension://cjpalhdlnbpafiamejdnhcphjbkeiagm/document-blocked.html?details=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwOi8vd3d3LnRyYWRlYWRleGNoYW5nZS5jb20vYS9kaXNwbGF5LnBocD9yPTMxMDQ4NiIsImhuIjoid3d3LnRyYWRlYWRleGNoYW5nZS5jb20iLCJkbiI6InRyYWRlYWRleGNoYW5nZS5jb20iLCJmYyI6IlswLDYyLFwidHJhZGVhZGV4Y2hhbmdlLmNvbVwiXSIsImZzIjoifHx0cmFkZWFkZXhjaGFuZ2UuY29tXiJ9
in the Wastebasket.
B
http://www.newpage.club safely in uBlockOrigin > my filters.
I will see how Slimjet performs from here on in. If no joy, seemingly Opera is immune to this bug, so I might start using that as my default browser.
Question: Does placing http://www.newpage.club safely in uBlockOrigin > my filters apply to all my browsers using uBlockOrigin or only Slimjet, where I made the addition to my filters?

Re: uBlock Origin
I believe it only applies to the browser you are using, in this case Slimjet.
Re: uBlock Origin
More likely, Opera just hasn't been infected yet. By the way, if you decide to reinstall Slimjet, start with a fresh download.

Re: uBlock Origin
I'd hate to use a tired analogy, but that's like putting a Band-Aid on cancer. If you have malware on your computer, then you want to remove it even if the problem is not apparent in Opera simply because leaving malware installed on your computer is a security risk. It's possible that by leaving this adware on your system that additional security holes are now present on your computer, and a hacker can now exploit these vulnerabilities at their leisure.Finston Pickle wrote:

Did you run any scans using any of the software from my previous post?

Re: uBlock Origin
It's all over for Slimjet - nothing I tried worked - just more redirection to advertising sites. Slimjet is now fully deleted - it was great whilst it lasted.
I am now back to Firefox, Chrome, Opera - which looks promising is its latest guise - and Midori.
I will keep my eyes open for any irregularities in the O/S and reinstall from my back up image (taken when everything was OK) if necessary.
In the meantime I will download and try ClamTK, Sophos and Comodo antivirus - thanks Buzzed lightyear and all others for your help - I may return in the future.

Re: uBlock Origin
Do an antivirus scan first. Check any suspicious files at virus total. When clean, try a fresh download/install of Slimjet.
