As the current version of Slimjet is based on Chromium 51.0.2704.84 which was released more than three months ago on June 7, are there any plans to update Slimjet any time soon to Chromium 53.0.2785.116 (the latest version)?

They will when they're ready. You also should note that Chromium/Chrome v53+ brings a new UI called Material Design, so we might have to wait a little longer for them to insure we have the same UI look that is unique to Slimjet.

Chrome itself ("chrome://flags") provides a way to change the look back to what is was, so it shouldn't be to difficult to replicate that. In fact currently in Slimjet ("slimjet://flags") there's a "Material design in the browser's top chrome" that does just that.
I'm curious why there was no updated Slimjet version in the last two months based on Chromium 52.

Wow thanks for that tip lol! Finally I can get rid of Slimjet's ancient-looking default design :D

So does anyone know when Slimjet 12 based on Chrome 53 (or the future 54) is being released?

The developers may know but i've never known developers to have a set release date nor if they do release it publicly as it's just not practical
