Re: Browser version

I'm not a dev so I don't know how they test it, but I haven't noticed any obvious bugs recently. A bit of a memory hog, like all Chromium browsers of course. You can always go back to your earlier version if you don't like the new one. Just make a copy of your profile (using the file system not the ...

Re: Browser version

I am up to date on Slimjet, Opera, and Firefox, having abandoned Brave for being broken. I have them set up in parallel, so I can switch at will, but Slimjet is my current system default. That is the approach to take, so you don't have to go crazy looking for a substitute when something breaks. I al...

Re: Browser inventory. General discussion

Got everything in sync as much as possible for Slimjet, Opera, Firefox.

Slimjet is primary browser.
Opera for some recreational purposes.
Firefox set up so I can move to it with a minimum of additional fiddling if need be.

Also Tor, occasionally.

Re: gHacks: Chrome notification suggests Windows 10 or 11 on Windows 7 and 8.1 devices

Is there some way (perhaps a registry hack) to stop seeing it once it starts?

Thank you.

Re: Browser inventory. General discussion

Set up Opera bookmarks and extensions to mimic my Slimjet set up (modulo some browser specific stuff).

I'll see if I can do the same with Firefox (which I have but do not use), but I'm in no hurry nor immediate danger of jumping ship.

Re: Does Slimjet store cookies in a different manner from other chromium based browsers?

Couldn't get CCleaner to do what I want, but I managed to get Slimjet to do almost what I want by mimicking my previous Brave cookie set up, but I will still need to to a bit of manual cleanup before my weekly profile backups.

Conclusion: Slimjet for the win.

Already found that, will be testing it later (after I close Slimjet).

Re: Does Slimjet store cookies in a different manner from other chromium based browsers?

It is finding cookies for all browsers, Chromium or otherwise, except Slimjet.
It's probably a problem with my set up (of CCleaner not Slimjet) rather than a bug in either program. I'm proceeding on that basis.

FWIW, my CCleaner finds all else for Slimjet just not cookies.

Re: Does Slimjet store cookies in a different manner from other chromium based browsers?

I have several Chromium based browsers and some digging under the covers shows the way they store cookies is completely orthogonal as to the location in the file system. %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\ {browser} \User Data\Default ... etc. My underlying problem is with CCleaner, so off to a different f...
