I just installed Slimjet on laptop that never had it before, and it's taking more than an hour to sync my Google data. Is this normal?

Is there a setting to make links open in a new tab when I click them? I know I can use the mousewheel, but it's very handy to simply click on a link (web link, bookmark link, any kind of link) and have it open in a new tab.

Does anyone know what version of Slimjet was the latest one in May 2014? That's when I first installed it, and I'm interested in trying to develop a theme/skin for that version. Also interested in general about the entire history of Slimjet. I can find pieces here & there via Google, but nowhere...
