Oh no I don't even want to hear about Thunderbird. I tried it out a number of years ago and somehow it permanently erased all the emails I had been saving. In my opinion, RBTB2605, is spot on with his advice to use Thunderbird. I had to switch from OE to another email program when the OS forced it....
