I bounced it off the developer. He says Chromium 111 (which is what Beta 39 is running) does not support Windows 7 or 8. I suggested that he update the download webpage compatibility information.
So Windows 7 & 8 users will be stuck at Slimjet ver 38

For every program I install or update. Unless forced to do otherwise. I always download the full installation file. And then install manually.

Using the browser with the problem
go to the very bottom right of the main page and click the link to delete all cookies
